1pm Words for Music Perhaps- Josephine Craven and friends: Kathy Cowan, Brigid Gerace, Frank Gleeson, Michael King, and Mark Piekarz
Yeats wrote, “I wanted all my poetry to be spoken on a stage or sung.…I have spent my life in clearing out of poetry every phrase written for the
eye, and bringing all back to syntax that is for the ear alone.” He should be well-pleased. His words have inspired numerous musicians and singers through the years, including Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell, Bono of U2, Sinead O'Connor, Shane MacGowan, Christy Moore, the Cranberries, Clannad, and the Waterboys to name a few. In homage to the great man’s desire Josephine Craven and friends present a selection of poems from his body of work showcasing their inherent musicality.
